Unexpected can be nice. Like deposits from savings bonds of long ago…
Those opening bars of acoustic guitar always take me back…
Amongst all the songs I used to have on cassette and have ended up buying in a digital format, this song has been randomly played the most by my smartphone’s music app in the past months.
Some of the parking and street construction downtown have vehicles coming in close proximity to the one I occupy.
Sometimes, I wonder if kids today will look back at this era of music decades from now and still enjoy the artists of the day as much as kids in my day look back to the music and artists of the 80’s and 90’s. There are so many songs from that period that I either know the lyrics by heart or, at the very least, sing the chorus convincingly! I miss songs like “All I Want” by Toad the Wet Sprocket. And bands with interesting names!
Back in the day, there seemed to be many R&B/pop vocal groups like Riff, Hi-Five, Boyz II Men, and Next. Just as music seems to cycle through genres, reminiscing on the music of that day has me wondering and waiting for the reinvention of these groups sometime soon.
