I am admittedly not a watcher of the NFL. I understand the basics of football, thanks to high school gym class, but prefer the Canadian Football League’s game to that of the US. I easily concede that between the two leagues, the NFL has the better half-time show at their championship event, the Super Bowl.
I don’t usually watch the Super Bowl. I often miss it. And I’ve yet to watch this year’s Super Bowl Half-Time show that was done by Justin Timberlake. Because really, is there anything better than Left Shark when Katy Perry did the Super Bowl Half-Time show?
All the promotion of Justin Timberlake’s Super Bowl made me miss the group that helped him launch his current career. *NSYNC was the group that was my favourite, particularly in its early years when the media reported a rivalry between *NSYNC and Backstreet Boys due supposedly to jealously by Backstreet that their then-manager sought to create another boy band when they were already around. Then the music and high energy of *NSYNC just was better. And my love of this group’s music introduced me, via music discussion boards, to friends I’ve never met in person but consider friends to this day. I still remember all the choreography to “I Want You Back” because the music video to the song was released pre-YouTube, so one had to request the video be played on video music stations in order to see and hear the song… and a lot of people did. It’s a song I think I will always know the lyrics to as well, given how many performances I’ve seen of this song, both via the myriad of media performances that I viewed and the one-time I saw *NSYNC perform live. LOL. Team *NSYNC forever!
