The hair. The guitar kicks.
This song just gets better when performed live!
Pop power track from a band who had great hair! Because sometimes you want to listen to an old-school song with synth and drum machine rhythms.
I bought this song off of iTunes not really knowing who the song was by. It was the intro of sparse guitar chords that drew me in. To have the song evolve into a melodic dance rhythm with the guitar tying everything together, it’s a song that is hard to get out of one’s mind once you’ve heard it a few times. Such as it is for me, in any case. I can’t say that I know all the lyrics per se, but I’ve now come to associate those particular guitar chords played at that specific tempo as an introduction to this song.
I am admittedly not a watcher of the NFL. I understand the basics of football, thanks to high school gym class, but prefer the Canadian Football League’s game to that of the US. I easily concede that between the two leagues, the NFL has the better half-time show at their championship event, the Super Bowl.
I don’t usually watch the Super Bowl. I often miss it. And I’ve yet to watch this year’s Super Bowl Half-Time show that was done by Justin Timberlake. Because really, is there anything better than Left Shark when Katy Perry did the Super Bowl Half-Time show?
All the promotion of Justin Timberlake’s Super Bowl made me miss the group that helped him launch his current career. *NSYNC was the group that was my favourite, particularly in its early years when the media reported a rivalry between *NSYNC and Backstreet Boys due supposedly to jealously by Backstreet that their then-manager sought to create another boy band when they were already around. Then the music and high energy of *NSYNC just was better. And my love of this group’s music introduced me, via music discussion boards, to friends I’ve never met in person but consider friends to this day. I still remember all the choreography to “I Want You Back” because the music video to the song was released pre-YouTube, so one had to request the video be played on video music stations in order to see and hear the song… and a lot of people did. It’s a song I think I will always know the lyrics to as well, given how many performances I’ve seen of this song, both via the myriad of media performances that I viewed and the one-time I saw *NSYNC perform live. LOL. Team *NSYNC forever!
The reggaeton beats of this song are addictive. The chorus is catchy. The featured artists help take the song into a more urban audience. Love this song!
Weird as it may seem, I’m a fan of music I can not only listen to but also physically own. There are variations to how I choose to own music, with my favourite of favourites often being artists I have music on multiple media. Wide Mouth Mason is one such artist. I love their entire catalogue as a longtime fan of their work, but this song, this song just seems to bring me the sun sonically on a rather dreary cold winter day. The music video’s vibe of laid back grooves match the repeating guitar chords that ties this song to my musical heart.
